According to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), on average, when adjusted for age, the annual U.S. suicide rate increased 24% between 1999 and 2014.
“Since I’m still livin’ here, I guess I’ll live on”. This was comment by Langston Hughes, a poet and a novelist, after attempting suicide.
We are brought to this earth with no road map of life. Life is quite literally what you make of it. The term “meaning” is subjective; what gives you meaning may be different from what gives me meaning, but a common trait for us would be the eagerness to take on the day.
Personally, I do not believe in finding meaning in another person as that can cause a chronic dependency on that person. I find meaning within myself, building myself up and helping people along the way do the same. We all have a potential self that embodies everything we could be, and I believe our mission in this world is to see how close we can get to that person.
